I don't usually do Wordless Wednesdays....mostly because I forget until it's too late, but I got an email today with some pictures in that put a snarky smile on my face so I am sharing:

Canine Calm by Earth Heart--Review & Giveaway

I pretty sure that if you happen to be reading this, then you already know I have four dogs. FOUR dogs. I love them all to pieces but dogs are alot like people in that they all have different personalites and different "issues".

My girl dog HATES being in the car (which is ironic because she has traveled more than some people I know), she wheezes and pants the entire time which worries me because she had a collapsed trachea and almost died after a surgery last year. The two brothers are 3 years old and so high strung, hate thunder, fireworks and they also hate when we leave for work and they have to be penned up. My oldest dog, well, he's just old and sometimes he forgets!

Canine Calm is a soothing natural aromatherapy alternative to veterinarian prescribed medications. It is a soothing mist that works quickly to help your dog calm down. Canine Calm was created more than 10 years ago by Vicki Rae Thorne, a master herbalist and certified aromatherapist for Earth Heart Aromatherapy. Originally develeoped to soothe nervous dogs in a kennel, it is now used by groomers, trainers and veterinarians to quickly and safely calm down nervous dogs.

How to use it:
You can spray Canine Calm on bedding, in the car, around the room. Spray onto your hands and massage the dog's outer ears or belly.  Spray on a favorite toy or bandana. Mist a brush before grooming you pet. You can even spray it on yourself and simply hold your dog, this way they begin to associate the smell with comfort and safety. Just remember to never spray directly into your dogs eyes, mouth or nose.

My dogs are small and I have found that two mists usually do the trick. For larger dogs you may need up to four. Since there are about 600 mists in one two ounce bottle it can last quite awhile (and the price works out to about 2 cents per mist...safer AND cheaper than Prozac!)

What do I think?
First off, I have to say I really enjoy the smell and it might actually be working on me too! My girl has only gone for one short ride with me since we got the spray, I misted some behind her ears and sprayed the inside of the car. She didn't stop panting completely but she definitely didn't wheeze or seem as nervous.
The little guys were easy to test. Since it has been raining and storming so much that I keep expecting to find Noah building and Ark in my backyard, we have had ample opportunities to test out the thunder. Normally the boys shake, shiver and hide. I sprayed it on my hands, gave a good belly rub and rubbed the ears down too. After a couple of minutes the shaking and shivering stopped and they were able to lay down and relax  instead of hiding and shaking. Each time we have used it, it seems to work a little better and I have told my husband to start giving them a ear or belly rub about 15 minutes before he is ready to leave for work, so that they won't be so worked up. I also learned some tips from the reviews posted on the website from other Canine Calm users and totally plan on trying them. For example, nail trimming. I'm gonna be honest, it's usually a bloody battle----me being the bloody one and my husband hiding in the garage halfway through the second dog.
After seeing how much it helped out the little guys I am definitely going to purchase the Travel Calm for my girl, that may relax her enough to enjoy her car rides and the Guard Well just might help my old guy with his allergies!

Canine Calm has been selected as a FIDO friendly "Top 100 Best Pet Product" for 2010 AND a staff pick by Tails Pet Magazine June 2010.

Organic Dried Fruit Snacks by Peeled Snacks- Review

For the last couple weeks I have been totally serious about getting healthier and loosing weight. I am not dieting, instead I am excersing and working to change the way I eat. Part of that includes incorporating more fruit into my diet, which is hard for me. With only two people in the house half the time anything I buy goes bad before we can eat it all or if I only buy enough for a couple days I am out before my next grocery trip (and no way in heck am I grocery shopping more than once a week, forget it). So I was pretty happy to get the chance to try out some goodies from Peeled Snacks.
Peeled snacks sells amazing organic dried fruit snack packages, which are the perfect size for sticking in your purse, taking to work and stashing in your desk or munching on at night when you get a craving for something sweet. Even better, there are no additives, just yummy, naturally dried fruit.

I was sent a package each of Apple to the core, Cherry-go-round and the Farmers Market blend. I took mine to work with me to help me get through that afternoon hunger that makes me eye the candy dish. I have tried all of them several times and really enjoy them. It seems kind of weird to be eating an apply that is chewy rather than crunchy but the flavor can't be denied. The raisins and cherries are to die for. Sweet and tart, they are so moist and bursting with flavor! I have to say, hands down, these are the best dried fruit snacks I have tried and I definitely need to get some more for my afternoon snacks.

About Peeled Snacks:
  • 10% of sales benefit the American Farmland Trust
  • Grown on farms in North America
  • Natural source of fiber
  • Great source of vitamins, minerals and fiber
You can purchase Peeled Snacks online at their website or nationwide at Starbucks locations.
You can also connect with them on Facebook and twitter, stop by, they would love to hear from you!

SkinCareRx

I remember when I was a teenager and had some skin problems, back then, if you wanted to take of them properly you had to go to a dermatologist because there just weren't quality products on the market. Luckily my mom worked for one or we couldn't have afforded it! Now, times have changed and so has the products on the market. SkinCareRx was found in 1999, with the intention of making dermatologist and spa grade, clinically active skin care more accessible to the general public. Each line carried by SkinCareRx has be carefully evaluated and not to mention tested by their own estheticians and staff members. SkinCareRx firmly stands behind only carrying brands that they themselves would use. Some of their top brands include: Clarisonic skin care, Obagi, and Kinerase.

Another one of those brands is Dermalogica
Dermalogica Skin Care:
You won't find frilly packaging here because dermalogica is more worried about what's inside the package then what's on it. The focus on giving you results. Irritant free formulas that can specifically target your problem areas: acne, wrinkles, dryness, age spots, irritation and even sun damage

Background:
In 1986 British therapist Jane Wurwand gathered a team of open minded scientists to create a results driven line of skin products without harmful irritants. Around the same time she also created the Dermal Institute to create new products and to provide post graduate training to skin therapists worldwide

Science:
Dermalogica thought beyond cheap fillers and harsh irritants which in turn pioneered new standards for performance. All products are non-comedeogenic and contain no mineral oil, lanolin, S.D. alcohol, artificial colors or fragrance. They do contain contain proven ingredients like Salicylic Acid, Benzoyl Peroxide, Hyaluronic Acid, and Vitamin C.

Who can use and benefit from these products? Everyone from grandmothers to young children. They carry a unique and diverse line of products suited to whatever need you may have. Sunscreen, Exfoliants and Masks, cleansers & toners and even shave products are just some of the items that make up this amazing diverse line of skin care products.

WIN IT:
The amazing folks from SkinCareRx are going to give one of my readers a $25 gift code which can be used on  SkinCareRx or her sister sites Apothica.com and Skinbotanica.com....I could spend hours a day on these sites and my worse problem would be deciding what to buy first!

Weekend Goings Ons

The weekend is over again and that usually makes me feel like crying....especially since I don't get many Saturdays off during the summer. However we had such wicked weather this weekend I didn't have to go in!
So here is my recap:

We brought mom home from the Cleveland Clinic and that's a load off me and dad. 1) she's home and we can worry a little less and 2) Cleveland Clinic is an hour and a half drive (one way) from where we live.

My old ceiling fan in the kitchen has been dying by increments. Sometimes not turning on, sometimes the light would flicker and the room was so dark I always felt like I was going blind. Naturally Mom tells me that of course I need a new fan, they bought that one for my grandparents before her and dad were even married...36 years ago.

Here is the old one coming down:
And let's just say it was way more of a job than expected, including having to call my dad over to help rewire some old wiring  this is the new one:

Yes I know my border isn't finished...I am working on it! Sheesh!

After that debacle, I spent the rest of the afternoon running around and doing errands. I got a wild urge to dye my hair and just so happened to be at Rite Aid. I picked up two boxes of the John Frieda foam stuff. I've never tried it before and lemme just tell ya, I am in love. I always have a hard time doing my hair by my self. This stuff was sooooo easy! Plus hair dye always irritates my scalp and feels a little like it's burning (yeah, yeah, don't use it then...but I like being blondish) This one was the first one in the 20 years of dying my hair that didn't bother me at all! Also, with other brands I ALWAYS need two boxes to cover my hair and the John Frieda covered me with only one and I was hard pressed to use it all! LOVE this stuff!

Today was crazy windy, we are talking 40 mph minimum gusts all day. Windy enough to rip up my neighbors roof (older readers may remember how much I adore these people)
Let's just say I have a feeling it's gonna end up in my yard....ahhh....the benefits of having truly classy neighbors. That house was so beautiful when I was growing up, then these freaks bought it. (and I think the one dog has mange, is that something I can report to someone?)

I cooked up some delicious burgers with meat that was so lean, I actually had to spray the pan with Pam to keep them from sticking! Then I baked off some chicken breasts I marinated in some Saucy Mama and chopped them up to make chicken salad for work. I used that Mayo made with Olive Oil that has half the fat. Normally stuff that has half the fat tastes like blech. This stuff rocks. Hubby argued that I was using his miracle whip!

and I think that's about it. Going to go chill out and read an ebook for an hour or so before I have to go to bed!

Hawaiin Kettle Style Potato Chips Review

Hawaiian Kettle Style Potato Chips already have a loyal following on the West Coast and are now moving to take over the East Coast market (not in a sinister way lol!) They have a new tagline, "Lolo 'Ono" which means crazy delicious, and after sampling a few I can totally vouch for the veracity of that!

These chips are created in the traditional Polynesian recipe that brought us the original Hawaiian Chips. With the super duper crunch factor and the mouthwatering flavors, any chip fan will find these hard to resist:
"The distinctive flavor profiles, crunchy texture and unique packaging all combine to offer consumers a product that is above comparison, and we know they'll love it."

I was sent a full size bag of the Luau BBQ flavor and a snack size bag of the Sweet Maui Onion flavor.
We tried the Luau BBQ flavor first. The front of this brilliantly orange bag tells you that the chips are "Sweet and Spicy" and that they are! The first thing I noticed was the crunch! I hate chips that have no texture and no crunch to them and these ones totally kick butt in that department. The flavor at first seemed to be a sweeter BBQ flavor and I kept thinking, these aren't spicy at all.....well it sneaks up on ya! They definitely have a kick after a couple, nothing that would make me not enjoy them but you definitely need to like a little tang if you try this flavor.

The Sweet Maui Onion flavor was also delectable. It has the same great texture and crunch but with a totally different taste. Don't think of these as those regular onion or sour cream &  onion chips you normally by that have an almost powdery flavor. These babies have a distinct sweet onion flavor that sort reminded me of an onion ring. I am definitely going to have to pick up a bag of these in the snack rings for the hubby, he'll be in heaven.

We really enjoyed trying these great kettle chips, they were crunchy and tasty. Something not like the normal run of the mill chip and they didn't leave our fingers covered in grease or our mouths with that yucky aftertaste. (other flavors include Original and Wasabi)

Hawaiian Kettle Style Potato Chips are available in a range of sizes including 2 oz bags (SRP $.99-$1.29), 8 oz bags (SRP$2.99-$3.49) and 16 oz bags (SRP $4.79-$5.29). Some of the East Coast Stores carrying them include Riesbeck's Food Markets, Fas Chek, Kroger, Shop 'n Save, Foodland, Giant Eagle and more. You can also purchase them online at http://www.hawaiianbrandsnacks.com/store.php#HAORI_PC

PhotobucketI was not compensated for this review, I did however receive two bags of product in order to give my opinion.

TShirtPrinting.net --Monkey T-shirt Review

I was recently given the opportunity to review a T-shirt from TShirtPrinting.net I was sent one of the unisex T-shirts with their mascot monkey on the front.  Since the monkey is not something I would normally sport in public, I gave the T-shirt to the hubs to test out.

He has been wearing it under his chef coats for a couple weeks now and I have to say that I am really pleased with how well it has held up. Many times a shirt with a printed picture looses some of it's artwork or fades really quickly, but even after repeated washings that monkey is still glaringly bright. The T-shirt itself is also holding up very well and you can tell it is a quality fabric, not a thin cheapo.

About TShirtPrinting.net:
Here at TshirtPrinting.net we have over twenty years experience in the screen printing industry and take pride in offering an honest, easy to understand way of doing business. We believe that you, our customer, are searching for someone to fulfil your printing needs without stress and with your satisfaction being our main aim.
TShirtPrinting.net specializes in silk screen printing for t-shirts, but you can also find hoodies, promotional clothing, vests and workwear. They will be happy to fill your order in quantities from 12-100,000, so whether you have a bowling team that would like matching shirts, maybe a church group or are order to multiple businesses you can find the quantity and quality you need.

Yanni Truth of Touch Review

Yanni: Truth of Touch

I'm  not usually a classical, new age or instrumental type of music fan. I prefer rock, 80's, 90's, some heavy metal and some country and I like it loud. :) Apparently in my old age (haha) I have become unable to concentrate on other tasks if there is too much going on in the background. Used to be I could tune anything out, but not now. So I downloaded some instrumental music tracks on my iPhone that I can listen to too a) block out the hubby's TV shows when I am trying to read and b) they really do relax me.

I had the opportunity to review the Truth of Touch cd and I remembered popular Yanni was 10 years or so ago, I even remember buying his cds for my mom, so I thought why not give it a shot!

This album is Yanni's first instrumental release of entirely new compositions in more than eight years.

“I work the rhythms in this album,” explains Yanni about the new material. “There is a beautiful complexity in these rhythms, a new sound design. I think the melodic content is very strong and very memorable. I was having fun with this album and that’s going to become apparent.”
I have been listening to the CD for a week, on and off and am really enjoying it. I wouldn't choose it to listen to it in the car with the windows open and the volume cranked up but I find that it's great on my iPhone with the headphones in or playing on my computer while I am trying to get some work done. The music is soothing yet upbeat at the same time and there aren't any of those crazy grand ups & downs or going from one end of the scale to another, that some instrumental music has. I like some songs better than others, right now I think my favorite track is Mist of a Kiss.

On March 22 Yanni kicked off a 40 stop tour of the US. The tour will take him through theaters in major cities across the US including Radio City Music Hall in New York and the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. To find out exact dates and if he will be in a city near you, you can visit his website: http://www.yanni.com/tour/.

A special thanks to the One2One Network for sponsoring this review.

PhotobucketI received a copy of the Truth of Touch cd in order to offer my honest opinion of it. No other compensation was received, all opinions are 100% mine. Those of other consumers may differ.
For submitting my post I will be entered in a random drawing.

Kakadu Pet Cot & All Seasons Mat- Review & Giveaway

Sponsored by Tomoson.com

My fur babies have been getting on my case, asking how come they haven't got to help mommy review some items for awhile. Luckily, I was able to hook up with Kakadu Pet and the wonderful folks there sent me two items that all four of them could use at once!

We are reviewing the Kakadu Pet Cot in a large:

  • The Pet Cot offers cool articulating breeze in summer and elevated off cold hard surfaces in winter. With no tools necessary, this easy to assemble pet bed is perfect for indoors or outdoors. Also ideal for camping, traveling as it comes in a carry bag.
  • Modern colors with removable cover design.
  • Available in 4 sizes to suit small to large breeds.
  • Cover made from 100% polyester and Frame constructed of powder coated steel.
  • Removable cover, machine washable
(bulleted information courtesy of Kakadu website)

We are also reviewing the Kakadu All Seasons Mat:
  • Ultimate in versatility, use the All Seasons Mat as a cot topper or standalone mat. Cool summer nylon and warm winter fleece.
  • Modern contemporary colors available
  • Available in 4 sizes to suit small to extra large breeds
(bulleted information courtesy of Kakadu)

My- or should I say our?- thoughts and opinions:

With four extremely spoiled dogs in the house, I can tell you there are pet beds in every room. I have one or two that are really good ones, but the rest are those cheap ones you find in the drugstore. Granted, those aren't great for the little guys, since they don't offer much support or padding, but when you keep it in the sun room or back porch for them, they don't tend to last long.  With summer around the corner, the little guys like to hang outside or on the porch where they can see us, so I knew right away when I had a chance to review the Pet Cot, that it was exactly what we were missing. I especially knew this would be good for my older two, as they have joint problems. Keeping them off the cold, hard ground it a huge deal.

Since my guys sometimes tend to look at me like I am crazy when I try to switch things up on them, I started out with the All Seasons Mat. Since it can be used as a cover for the cot or alone,  I took it and put it warm and cozy side up on the living room floor, replacing one of their beds too let them get used to it. Pretty soon I noticed my oldest guy going there to sleep more and more. After they got used to it, I put together the cot and put the mat on the cot. It's big enough for all four of them to pile on if they want and with the soft side up it's a cozy bed. In the spring I can turn the mat over and have the cool side up for them, or it it gets really warm take the cover off all together.

It was easy even for me to put together, yet I am very impressed with how well made and sturdy everything is. The large cot I received will hold up to 150 pounds! It comes apart with a couple of clicks and can be folded neatly into a carrying case for easy travel . Made out of rust resistant steel, it will last a lifetime. It is a definite plus that the bedding parts come off easily are are also machine washable or you can even hose it down and lay flat to dry!

My older two especially seem to love it. As a matter of a fact I can hear the my only girl and the oldest boy are both sleeping on it as I type....and someone is seriously sawing logs!
