Stay Connected While on the Go!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Evie. All opinions are 100% mine.

I know that many people already have an iPhone and with Verizon releasing one soon, even more people will be getting one. Truthfully I think I would be lost without mine, but finding great apps among all the of the not so good ones takes alot of searching. That's why I want to share Evie with you.

I downloaded Evie for free on my phone and love "her". Evie is the app that can do just about anything with the touch of one button and your voice command, making it great for busy moms, people on the go, traveling and more.

What does Evie do?

Dock
Uploaded with Skitch!

Well you can do a ton of stuff. Open the app and say "call home" . Evie will call anyone in your contact list for you, no more programing a bunch of favorites. Need to call a number not in your list? You can simply say "call 555-555-5555" and Evie will dial the number for you.

You can play any audio file stored on your phone by saying the artists name, name of a specific song, audio book or podcast by simply saying "play Bon Jovi"

Taking a trip? Need to find a gas station, Mc Donalds or Walmart? Tell Evie "find nearest gas station" and bam! You can then choose to call them --say you want to order some food and have it ready when you get there--or you can tell Evie to give you directions!

You can even have Evie read your Facebook feeds to you. I did it on my way to work this morning and it worked great!

I would definitely recommend downloading  Evie to anyone who has an iPhone!

Roundabouts Cupcake Sleeves, Review & Giveaway

Roundabouts Cupcake Sleeves were created in 2007 when Sheri Mersola, then a stay at home mom, was planning her 13 year old child's birthday party. The theme was a movie night, so she decided on cupcakes and made some cupcake "sleeves" that looked like traditional popcorn movie tubs and topped the cupcakes with "popcorn" marshmallows. Her dessert was a hit and everyone was asking where she bought the wrappers.  She began taking a second look at cupcakes in bakeries and noticed beautifully decorated tops but plain bottoms. Moon Cherie Inc was found several weeks later and Mersola was hard at work designing her cupcake sleeves.

With over 70 designs, these cupcake sleeves can transform your plain old cupcake into a work of art fit for any occasion. They are packaged to fit neatly in a drawer beside your other baking accessories or birthday candles.

Easy to use, you just pull one out of the sleeve, remove the little sticky tab, wrap around your cupcake and add toppings. Great for any occasion you can dream up; kid parties, valentines day, Halloween, sports and many many more! You can even get customized ones!

I received a package of the Candy Heart cupcake sleeves to try out. They are adorable and very easy to use! How fun would these be for a child's valentine day treat at school or even to take to work with you?
Since you can easily wipe them off, they can be reused if you want. (a small piece of scotch tape will refasten them.

Here are a couple others that I think are too cute:

BUY IT: You can purchase Roundabouts Cupcake Sleeves online at http://www.roundaboutsleeves.com/ for about $8.99 per dozen.

WIN IT: Sheri from Roundabouts is going to give one of my readers a sleeve of their choice!

Blogging is not for the faint of heart

Thanks to Trop 50 for sponsoring my writing about fabulous bloggers. This year Trop50 is granting 50 fabulous wishes. Click here to enter for a chance to win $1,000 to help grant a friend's wish!

I read blogs written by others for a quite awhile before I started writing my own. I loved peaking into other peoples lives, laughing with them, crying with them, entering contests. I loved all of it. Eventually I started to think things like I could totally do this, how hard can it be and so on. So I decided to start my own blog......and I learned ALOT.

Like the fact that blogging is not for the faint of heart. I mean it. It's not so easy to just "do it". Some days after working all day the last thing I want to do (besides laundry) is sit down at the computer and write a blog post, yet if you want to be a good blogger and keep a following that's just what you have to do.

Some blogs are all product reviews, some blogs are no product reviews or giveaways and some are both. I try to do both personal posts and product reviews/giveaways. The personal posts (and even some of the product reviews) are another reason I say blogging is not for the faint of heart. You put your heart and soul out there for anyone with an internet connection to read. Some of those folks are brutal and the comments or emails will hurt, making you wonder again why you do this.

I do it because for the most part I do enjoy it. Sometimes I can earn a couple extra bucks, review a product and get to keep it and those are great perks.

However, the main reason I keep it up is because for all the hard work or negative comments there are some great people out there. I have been blogging for less than a year and made some wonderful friends. Women and men who have made a difference in my life, helped me when I didn't have a clue what I was doing, exchanged phone numbers with me and listened to me when I needed a shoulder. I've seen the blogging community band together to help a little girl with cancer. I've seen them help raise funds for a little boy whose mom died suddenly. Those are things that make me come back to my computer and write another post.

I want to mention Five Fabulous Bloggers that I have come to know and love in the last year.

It's Me! Melbie! Melanie originally encouraged me to start my blog after I started asking her questions about hers. She does a fantastic job with family friendly reviews, has great giveaways and is always willing to answer a question or two.

Boobies, Babies & a Blog Oh man, what can I say about Boobies? She writes one heck of a blog. Personal posts that at times will have you laughing like a loon. Boobies doesn't pull her punches or worry overmuch about a G Rating, she writes what she thinks and feels and she usually has a slew of awesome product reviews and giveaways.

Babe's Rockin Mami  This blog is more of a personal blog, even though she does do some reviews and giveaways. A 20 something first time mom, she shares her life. Stories of her little one, day to days. Mami is not afraid to lay it all out there and her posts are ofter very personal. She also has a slight make up obsession and is starting her own bakery.

Mommy Loves Stilettos  This is a personal blog that often times touches me deeply. Written by a woman who has struggled with so many things. I admire her courage to put it all out there for others to learn from. She is a strong, beautiful woman that I admire.

Masshole Mommy  Another blog that is a mixture of personal with kick butt reviews and giveaways. I never quite know what to expect when I open this blog in the morning. The daily post could be a picture of a hot guy, a recap of a grave yard ghost walk, a cell phone in the washer or a review of a crazy product I never heard of but now really want! I always enjoy reading whatever she has to say!

There are a ton more great bloggers out there but for now I am stopping with Five Fabulous Bloggers :)

PhotobucketDon't forget to enter the 50 Fabulous Wishes contest for a chance to win $1,000 to support a friend's wish. I was selected for this Tropicana Trop50 sponsorship by the Clever Girls Collective, which endorses Blog With Integrity, as I do. I received compensation to use and facilitate my post.

Goodbye Jen

Jen wasn't perfect. She was completely OCD, very temperamental and could be very hard to work for.
She was however a great person. My husband worked for her and her husband for quite a few years. He was with her day in and day out and when she was pregnant with her first child he used to joke that he would have to bring a catchers mitt to work because she was gonna have that baby while working in the kitchen with him....she almost did too.
When the restaurant I was managing closed down, she was good enough to give me a job working whatever I needed. I spent alot of time getting to know her and admire her dedication.

Several years ago when Jen was diagnosed with breast cancer she was scared. Her mom had died at the same age...from breast cancer. Jen was a fighter and deep down I (and I think everyone who knew her) believed that if anyone could kick cancers ass it would be Jen. She elected to have a double mastectomy even though they said she didn't HAVE to. She went through her chemo, radiation and still ran her restaurant and still played with her kids. Nothing stopped her.

The Dr's said she was clean, she just had to come back for her check ups. Less than two years later it was back. This time in her lymph nodes and bone marrow. STILL she fought. STILL she worked. And most importantly STILL she loved her kids and husband and spent as much time as she could with them. She fought hard and was doing pretty good but I guess her body couldn't take anymore. She passed away this afternoon, leaving behind a husband and two little boys both under 8, a restaurant she tried so hard make thrive in this horrible economy small town and many many friends and hearts that she touched.

I know she wasn't perfect, but nobody is. I know I didn't see her much lately but it's still hard.
May you rest in peace Jen, your body free from pain and watch over your boys from above

SwagBucks has Games!

Okay, I know quite a few people who are skeptical about programs where you earn money or prizes for searching the internet. Maybe you have joined ones in the past and you have to reach some insane amount of $50, earning a nickel at a time before they will let you cash out. I know I have.....I'm pretty sure there is some account I signed up for with $4 sitting around in because I got disgusted and discouraged.

Swagbucks is NOT like that! I joined them in June of 2010. Since then I have redeemed ELEVEN $5 Amazon gift cards, that's $55. (you don't have to get Amazon cards, they have tons of different prizes, I just like Amazon ebooks alot!)

Swagbucks are easy to earn too. Most of mine I have collected are from my daily internet searches. I downloaded the Swagbuck toolbar and simply type my searches in there and get points. Of course you can answer daily polls, surveys, shop online and many more different ways to earn points. Which brings me to the point of this post:

Swagbucks has free online GAMES now! That's right. Free Games. Earn points for playing arcade games, puzzle games and word games. No download is required. Having a boring lunch break at work? Log on to swagbucks and play a game of Wordchain Plus or Zip Zap. I have been playing for a couple days now at night, trying out the games, they are fun. easy, free and I earn Swagbucks! I have to admit I might have a little Crazy Taxi Addiction!!

So, If you haven't signed up for Swagbucks yet, I suggest you check it out. If you sign up before Midnight PST on Friday the 14th you will get an automatic 30 Swagbucks to start you out, plus you can use the code SBGames to get an extra 30 swagbucks. If you sign up with my referral link, you can come back here and take an extra 10 entries in any or all of my current giveaways--just leave your Swagbucks user name in you comment entries.

So what are you waiting for? Head over to Swagbucks and play some Free Games now!

Say Anything Game- Review & Giveaway

I love playing games and in this age of electronic everything, I especially love playing board games. I feel like it brings the people playing them closer together and you interact more than playing video games. This is the second game that I got to review from North Star Games and it's definitely a fun, interactive game.

What would your friends say?
Say Anything is a light-hearted game about what you and your friends think.  It will get people talking, laughing and having fun in minutes.  Enjoy it with three to eight family members or as an hilarious party game with adults.  So dig deep into your heart or just come up with something witty - this is your chance to Say Anything!
This game is rated for ages 13+ but I pulled it out for a little "grown up" get together with my brothers & sisters in law. We had some drinks (hey we are grown ups!) and had a riot with Say Anything. With minimal instructions and very few pieces it's great for playing in a group. The game itself is easy peasy to play:
  1. Ask a question from the card you draw.
  2. Everyone else writes an answer and turns it face-up
  3. Secretly choose your favorite from every ones answers while they guess which one you picked
With questions like "If I could have a "BIG" anything, what would it be?" or "What's the worst thing to say to a cop after getting pulled over?" it's easy to see how a group of adults could end up laughing hysterically at each other!

BUY IT:
Game can be purchased at Borders, Barnes & Noble, local game stores, or online at www.barnesandnoble.com

WIN IT: North Star Games is going to give one of my readers a Say Anything Game of their own.

Features and Benefits of the in ARROJO S125:

So those are most of  the technical aspects of the ARROJO S125 Flat Iron and if you want more information or product specs you can find them at IZUNAMI.com Technical specs are all well and good when you are researching something, but I suspect the reason you are reading a review blog is because you want more than just specs, you want to know if the literature is true and how well the product works. I'm going to tell you.

I have used and/or reviewed flat irons in the past and thought that some were ok, some great but I am pretty sure that the ARROJO S125 is the holy grail of flat irons. I'm not going to get all technical, you can read those specs above, what I am going to do is tell you some of the features I adore. Features I didn't realize were such a big deal until I used them.

It takes me a long time to straighten my hair and I hate waiting for the iron to heat up and I also hate that I frequently have to stop for a minute or too so that the temp goes back up while I'm doing my hair. I am not kidding, I plugged the ARROJO in and within in 30 seconds that baby gave a little "beep" and the red light started flashing, telling me it was ready to go. Of course as a skeptic, I started to touch it to see.....yep hot. I have the 450 degree burn on my finger to prove it (when exactly will I learn?). Even better, that little red light never stopped flashing the entire time I was doing my hair, meaning the temp stayed right were I needed it the entire time!

Another feature that is great is the cool tip finger grips. I always grasp the end of the iron to keep pressure steady and slide the iron evenly through my hair. My previous iron was always HOT to the touch. The Cool Tip is wonderful, it stays cool and I can grip my iron without worrying about burning myself (more).

All the other things like the ceramic plates, root edge design allowing me to get even closer to my roots, 9 ft swivel cord and the equal plate temperature are what make a great flat iron. The little extras are what make this an incredible flat iron. The only negative thing I could possibly say that I wish it came with a felt mat/storage case.

(yes those are my pajama's, it's the only time hubby is home to take a picture for me)

If you are looking for the holy grail of flat irons,The ARROJO by IZUNAMI is available at fine salons, spas, beauty supply stores and at www.arrojostudio.com

WIN IT: One of my readers will win their very own ARROJO, a $250 value.

Alaska Glacial Mud Co. Review & Giveaway

About Alaska Glacial Mud Co:
Alaska Glacial Mud Co. is a young eco-friendly and philanthropic company that sustainably hand-harvests glacial mud from the Copper River Delta where timeless glaciers have ground remote mountains into pure mineral-rich powder. We combine the glacial mineral mud with traditional botanicals from plants indigenous to the Pacific Northwest for superior skin care. We are dedicated to high quality ingredients and product performance backed by a commitment of sustainability to the land and the people who depend on its bountiful resources. We do not use synthetics and of course all products are cruelty-free.  credit www.alaskaglacialmud.com
I love girly pampering things and since the price of a spa day is astronomical these days, I have to try and turn my bathroom into a spa. I will admit that before I learned better, I would buy those cheapie spa products that you can pick up in any Walmart. The experience was always lacking and often times just became a chore instead of a relaxing & rejuvenating experience. Thankfully for my skin, I have grown wiser and realized that if I want to have a spa quality experience at home, I need to find spa quality products without the spa price tag. When I came across Alaska Glacial Mud Co., I knew I was going to have to contact them.

Alaska Glacial Mud Co. uses all natural and organic ingredients with no propylene glycol and all the products are paraben free. All ingredients are biodegradable, the packaging is recyclable and the company itself pledges 10% off profits to wilderness preservation, habitat restoration, sustainable community development and and environmental education in the Copper Valley Watershed of Alaska. How could I NOT want to try products from this company?

Luckily for me (and ,my readers) they agreed to send me some to try out and let you know what I think of them.

The Glacial Exfoliating Mineral Soap Bar is made with certified organic emollient oils of olive, coconut and palm. Enriched with pure exfoliating and mineral-rich glacial clay and goat's milk and comes in two scents. This soap is said to be great for the entire body, good for preventing breakouts and even able to be used as a shampoo. Since my face tends to be very dry in the winter I choose to use it in the shower instead and find that I really like using it to shave my legs. The exfoliating element combined with just enough lather works great, leaving the skin on my legs feeling very healthy and less "scaley" than normal and the refreshing scent is a definite plus.

The Glacial Facial Purifying mineral Mud Masque is made with the most mineral-rich and pure glacial clay in the world and enriched with a special combination of certified organic and wildcrafted botanical extracts from the Pacific Northwest. Containing more than 60 nourishing major & trace elements, the masque softens, detoxifies, exfoliates and promotes skin cell regeneration at the same time yet is still gentle enough for all skin types and is allergy free.

I received a travel size of the Lavender-Vanilla, the Lavender-Peppermint and a masque brush to apply them with. One of the very first things that drew me in and let me know I was probably going to adore this product was the scent. Just smelling them made me feel as if I was stepping into an exclusive spa that the price of which my cause my husband to drop dead immediately. I found the Lavender Peppermint to more energizing and uplifting, while the Lavender Vanilla was more relaxing.
Using the brush to apply it was a treat in itself, the soft but firm bristles made applying the masque a pleasurable experience with the added benefit of not having wasted product all over my fingers and under my nails.  The Masque itself was the perfect consistency containing no grit and smoothing over my face without clumping or even worse, running and dripping. I relaxed for around a half an hour, closing my eyes and breathing in the aromatic scent. Once the masque was completely dry I simply washed it off with warm water. I don't know it it was just me, but my skin felt tighter and seemed to have a healthier glow after using.

I absolutely adore the Glacial Facial Purifying Mineral Mud Masque and plan to order a full size one for myself......(unless someone gets me one for my birthday in a week, hint, hint).

BUY IT: To purchase any of the products I mentioned you can find a retail location near you by checking online HERE or at Alaska Glacial Mud Co online. Travel size masque's can be purchased for $3.50 each while a 3.5oz 20 application jar retails for around $34 (that's about $1.70 per application!!)

WIN IT: Lauren from Alaska Glacial Mud Co has offered to give one of my readers two of each of the travel size mud masques. So Two Lavender Peppermint and Two Lavender Vanilla for one lucky lady  (or man)!

Tropical Traditions Coconut Flour & Coconut Peanut Butter Review

 About Tropical Traditions:
We have a strong commitment to family farming and organic standards. We stand firmly against genetically modified foods (No GMOs). But the organic label is not enough for us. We research and find out where the products are produced, and how they are produced. We find that some organic standards too loose for our trust, so we look beyond what is claimed on a label. We find out as much as possible about those who provide the products. And if a certain quality of product does not exist, we will work with others to produce that product and offer it to our consumers.

I have been extremely lucky in being able to review several items from Tropical Traditions over the past months. This time around I choose to review the Organic Coconut Flour and the Organic Coconut Peanut Butter.

Tropical Traditions makes its organic coconut flour from the fiber of the coconut meat after the oil has been removed to make their organic virgin coconut oil. The resulting flour is certified organic, contains no sulfites, is unsweetened yet naturally sweet from the coconut. It is naturally high in dietary fiber and protein and a completely gluten free. You can learn more about the "technical" aspects at Tropical Traditions Organic Coconut Flour

Tropical Traditions Organic Peanut Butter is made from two ingredients and two ingredients only. Organic peanuts and organic coconut. 100% organic Valencia Peanuts grown in New Mexico and Texas are ground with 100% organic coconut meat from the Philippines. No additional fillers, sugars, preservatives or chemicals are added, so you are eating a 100% natural treat!

Since it was the holidays and I am always looking for a way to make cookies that are a little healthier but still taste yummy, I thought it would be  a perfect time to use both of these products. Tropical Traditions has a huge variety of recipes including tons of gluten free recipes and they are all free, so of course I browsed through them looking for a likely candidate. They have a ton, but I ended up tweaking a recipe I have used before for Oatmeal Peanut Butter cookies.

Cream Peanut Butter, Butter, Vanilla, Egg
I will say that the peanut butter is not like the kind you find in the store with a little fairy on the jar. It is much denser and a little harder to spread, I probably would not attempt to put it on toast. On the other hand you have to remember that it isn't full of chemicals, preservatives and so on. You can definitely taste the coconut flavor too.
I find it to be great for baking and very easy to work with.

Add Flour to mixture
The flour is smooth and feels silky to the touch (note: do not try to sniff flour to see if it smells like coconut...not a great idea). It is a slight yellowish color, but I am guessing that has to do with having no chemicals, bleaches and what not added to it. I really like knowing that the flour is so high in protein and fiber too.

After mixing together the ingredients I had a course batter that I dropped by the Tablespoon onto a cookie sheet and baked for about 12 minutes. The result was unanimous. The cookies were great. A crisp outside with a moist inside and raisins added for a little extra flavor
