LaVaque Tweezers Review & Giveaway

Let me tell you, if there is a beauty grooming ritual I hate, it's has to be tweezing my eyebrows. As if the task isn't bothersome enough, I often end up with crappy tweezers. You know the ones, the ends don't align anymore or the they get dull making it hard to grasp those little hairs. So I was super excited to get some LaVaque (pronounced La-VAKE) tweezers in the mail to try out.

About La Vaque:
LaVaque Tweezers stands behind its motto " Beauty requires Precision™" promising extreme accuracy with a kiss of Extravagance. Our tweezers are here to stay and we are determined to make a significant mark. With low overhead and the Best Tweezers in the industry we can strongly say it is time the public can buy a professional tweezer that is affordable. We stand behind our tweezers with the Best Guarantee:You Break'em, You Dull'em, We Replace'em ™. No Questions Asked. When you hold these tweezers in your hand you will be convinced you have a professional, quality made tweezer that is trusted pluck for pluck. (from La Vaque About Us)
LaVaque has 3 lines of tweezers; The Standard Slanted, The Swarovski and the Diamond. I was lucky enough to receive a pair to review; the La Vaque Slanted Swarovski Tanzanite. I can honestly say I never thought to find a tweezer that was not only functional but classy. The tweezers I tried are so precise, you can pluck the finest of hairs with ease, they don't slip through the ends nor are they hard to grasp. I also noticed they were much easier to squeeze than my old tweezers, making this an ideal item for someone who suffers from arthritis. As far as the difference between the Standard, Swarovski and the Diamond, the Standard is offered in a variety of slants and the other two have some adorable bling on them. Structurally they are made the same.
Hey, I am a girl and I like my bling! Since they are guaranteed, I would totally spend the extra couple bucks to get mine pretty!

Did I mention that Mondays is free tweezer day? All you have to do is be a fan of LaVaque on Facebook, every Monday they draw one lucky lady (or man!) to send a pair of free tweezers to!

You can purchase the Swarovski Tweezers in a variety of colors (they even have one where $3 of the proceeds goes to breast cancer!) online for $29.95. The Standard tweezers come in a variety of angles and can be purchased online for $19.95. For those of you with money to burn, there is even a Diamond tweezers starting at $75. Don't like to purchase online? Check HERE for the retailer nearest you.

LaVaque has been nice enough to hook me up with a pair of Standard Slanted tweezers for ONE of my lucky duck readers!

Monday Minute Must Go on!

Monday Minute

Week two of the Monday Minute with our lovely new hostesses Heather & Melissa!
This week the guest host is Jessica from Stilettos & A Fishing Pole.
Make sure to swing by and say Howdy to all the lovely ladies!

(First 3 questions are compliments of Jessica!)

Who was your high school Sweet Heart? That would have been David D., Freshman to Junior year....Man the things he taught me :)
What is your favorite vegetable to eat? Um....cooked carrots?
Do you plan on dressing up for Halloween, if yes, what do you have in mind? Ha. I'm going to be the crazy lady sitting on her front porch, probably in un-matching clothing, with a dog in her lap handing out candy and freaking out the parents of the little kids cuz at some points it appears I might kidnap a small one. WHAT?
Are you a reality show junkie? If so, what is your guilty pleasure? I was going to say no, but because I thought the only reality show I watched was Survivor, but then I remembered I am addicted to TLC and discovery health......I didn't know i was pregnant, baby stories, Duggars, Ice Road Truckers (shut up) oh hell...........
What year did you graduate high school? 1994

Fawk You Friday

BWS tips button

Of course my Friday isn't complete unless I hook up with Jana at Boobies, Babies & A Blog for her infamous Fawk You Friday. She says Fawk isn't a bad word, so it's cool to use (cuz you know some people are just really offended when you use the word Fuck)

One Crazy Brunette Chick

And the awesome Steph from Babes Rockin Mami is hosting Blog Stalk Friday for the crazy ass CB since she is on a break this week. Don't know CB? Let's just say she is totally not scared to say fuck.
Visit either of the sites to read the rules and hook up!

So who is on my shit list this week? Well.....
Fawk you to Nurse Ratched who gave me my allergy shot this week. When I cringed and you said "oh, was that an owie? are you one of those people who are scared of needles?" You are lucky I didn't deck you. I'm not scared of needles, I've given myself more shots than you know lady, not to mention 3 tattoos. I do however have a problem with you holding the syringe in a closed fist, jamming it into my flesh and slamming the plunger with your thumb like it's a race to see how fast you can get that shit that burns like hell into my system.

Fawk you to that little bastard dog Chester (and my husband for not watching him) I came home from work and he smelled like he had crawled inside of a skunks ass, rolled around then walked through a toxic waste dump. WTF did that little bastard roll in? So naturally I go to bath him and JESUS GOD, as soon as the water hit him it got worse. 3 times I had to bath that little bastard.

Fawk you to stupid asses. Here is one example of people I hate (phone call at work) DA= dumb ass
ME: xxx Supply, can I help you?
DA: You sell hot water heaters?
Me: No
DA: Well where can I get one?
ME: Try Home Depot
DA: They are too expensive, where else?
ME: I don't know
DA: (in a pissy tone) So that's it? You're not going to give me someone else to call?
ME: No (what am I? 411?) We don't sell them, try the yellow pages, have a nice day. *Click*

and here is some photographic proof of the morons that frequent the place I live work:
The twenty minutes I spent watching these two morons try to tie that piece of gutter down was the comic relief I needed. If you look close enough, you will see that they have extended a ladder and are now tying the gutter to the ladder. I don't care how many red flags you attach to it, if you pass a cop you are getting pulled over. The only thing funnier was watching them try to pull out. One boss (the 70 yr old man) saw me leaning out the window and laughing so he looked and summed it up "dumb fucking beverly hillbillies"

"ScentSationals' unique wickless wax warmer combines light, fragrance and artistic design to create a unique, personalized ambiance in any room. A soft 25w light nested within a decorative ceramic vessel provides enough heat to melt wax fragrance cubes in a dish at the top of the warmer."
If you are a "scent" lover like I am and haven't yet heard of ScentSationals, then I have the scoop for you!.
I was recently lucky enough to receive my very own ScentSational package and am in love! I was able to choose my ceramic base from a generous selection of items. With so many to choose from and such classy styles, a person would be hard pressed to not find one to fit some area of their home or office. I liked the Fleur de Lis the best because I could really picture it fitting in my living room and even making it look a little more put together. You know, fancy but not gaudy.

When it came I was very please with how well everything was packaged. UPS had dropped, smashed and done God knows what else to my box, since it was ripped and stuff was falling out. I was full of dread as I finished the job they started and took everything out. Not one thing was scratched or broken, even the 25 watt light bulb was still intact due to the awesome job someone had done bubble wrapping!

I set mine up in the living room, plugged it in and was ready to go. I received 6 of the unique highly scented wax cube trays. I choose to use the one I thought I would like the least first, ZEN. I would say that within 45 minutes my living room, kitchen, hall way and bathroom all smelled like a Spa. Even my husband noticed when he came home from work (amazing!). Instead of changing it out right away, I used the same scent every night, at least two hours for a week. At the end of that week I was absolutely amazed that it still smelled just as strong as the first day but I was dying to try a different scent. Since the bowl on top is not attached you simply let the wax get warm and go liquid and then pour it right back into the tray it came out of and you can use it again! Wipe off the bowl with a paper towel while the wax is still warm (even heated it doesn't burn since it is only a 25 watt bulb) and drop your new cubes in! I personally find that 2 cubes is more than enough at one time, but my house is small, a larger area may need more cubes.

I have yet try every scent in my warmer, but I can tell you now, just sniffing them in the packages is divine. I have them sitting on the computer desk now and keep thinking I smell someone baking.....nope it's the cupcake scented wax. The No Place Like Home I will be saving for the holiday season (very apple cinnamonish) and the Black Raspberry Vanilla is melting as we speak and making me want to go berry picking!
Fleur de Lis Starter Kit $22.99

I have spent alot of money on candles over the years to only be disappointed again and again when after burning for a little while I can no longer smell them. Some retailers get $25 for a single candle! I have to say I will be purchasing from ScentSationals first from now on! At around $19.99 for a warmer that is also a work of art and $2.99 for a package of 6 wax blocks in a ton of different scents it is a deal I can't pass up! I can have a different scent everyday of the week if I want and still be way ahead! I also feel alot safer leaving the room. With a lit candle I am always worry about the open window, wind, the dogs and what have you. With ScentSationals 25 watt bulb I feel alot safer going about my business and not worrying about the house coming down around my ears just because I went in the basement to put a load of laundry in!

Over all I have to say that ScentSationals are sensational! 5 stars!

You can purchase a warmer and/or wax cubes at Warmers are currently $19.99 and waxes are $2.99. These are definitely on my list of Christmas gifts this year!

Disclaimer: I received the above mentioned products in order to do a review. All opinions are my honest opinion and in now way influenced for having received it free. Other consumers may have different opinions

Whoops! Wordless Wednesday

Hubby & Dremel

The hubby is very artistic (unlike moi) and spends most of the summer out in the garage making an unholly mess building things from scratch. Last year he had made me a couple of planters and flower boxes. This summer he has been designing wooden motorcycles (choppers) and putting them together piece by piece. He doesn't have alot of tools and many of the ones he does have actually belonged to my Grandfather. He does have one of the less expensive Dremel tools that I bought him years ago that he does most of his detailing with.

Last night my phone woke me up at 1:50 am. So I look at it and it's the hubby texting me. He apparently was so thrilled that he figured out how to submit a picture and have it posted on the Dremel Community Forum, that instead of just leaving me a note or sending an email, he texted me. At 2 in the morning.

So just for him, I am posting it here too. Sometimes he paints them and sometimes he varnishes them, so far this is just the raw wood.

He recently read that Dremel has released a new tool that can cut, sand and rout called the Dremel Trio. He also mentioned that the Dremel Multi-Max is going to be releasing a cordless version in October and that he could tackle all those repairs that I nag about soooo much easier with one of those. I know I am being played but I am all about one less cord to trip over! The bribery didn't stop their either, since he showed me a link to video of some adorable wooden lawn ornaments that he would just love to make for me.

Fibers Custom Shirts Review is a really neat site where you can design your own Custom T-Shirts or choose from one of the 1000's they have already made up. If you happen to see a design and think "OH, I would LOVE that if only it had X on it too" no worries! You can even customize the pre-made designs if you want too! You can put whatever you want on a men's, woman's, kids sized hoodie, tshirt, sweatshirt in a variety of colors and designs! (and that is just to mention a few items!)

The have a great collection of "I Love T-Shirts" like the one the above, that makes an adorable onesie (and makes me think of Jana).
Looking for a way to announce a new baby? How about one of these super cute Big Brother T-Shirts?

Recently I was lucky enough to get to make my own shirt on Fibers. It is surprisingly easy while still being very professional. You can start from scratch or use one of there templates and tweak it to suit you. I sorted through the templates and found one I liked. After picking what type of shirt and what colors I wanted I moved on to changing the font to one I liked. Then I uploaded an image from my personal computer and used Fibers tools to add it to the template. Once I was happy with all the particulars I simply clicked add to cart and waited for it to come in the mail.
My Shirt online
Hubby modeling his shirt
I was very surprised by the speed. I ordered it on 8/8 and had it on 8/14! The total for this shirt, including shipping runs $24.99 so I was extremely surprised by the quality of the shirt. I figured that with custom design and priority shipping I was probably going to receive a thin inferior shirt, but to my surprise it is very thick and a good quality. My husband and his buddy can nap on the recliner together in style this fall!
The only thing I would have done different is to have used either a color photo or a larger photo as printing made this a little darker than I would have liked (but I am pretty sure that I was warned of that, so my fault, I just don't listen well!)
Another great feature is that you can create an account and save your designs. Create them, then come back after you think about it. Or see what your design would look like on every item fibers carries! I can't wait to go back and make up something else. I think that something like this would make really great gifts, especially for those hard to buy for friends or family!

Getting To Know You

Getting to know YOU

I always mean to do this meme but seem to forget every Sunday morning.....It might have
something to do with those shots I mentioned on Saturday Six!
Anyways it seems pretty easy:
Answer the questions,
and link up!

1. If you could host a Reality TV show, which one would it be?
I would totally want to host Survivor, because I love it but am way to much of a wuss to be on it! Since I am pretty sure Jeff Probst isn't eating bugs, I think I could do his job!

2. Do you put your seatbelt on before or after you start the car?
After....I know! Bad!

3. Shave or hair removal cream?
Shave, hair removal cream takes way too long and mostly doesn't work.

4. What's your favorite feature in a house?
The kitchen. The way I was raised, the kitchen is where family happens. Cooking, visiting, eating. Everything happens in the kitchen.

5. What is your favorite "Fall" scent?
Bonfires.....the smell of a any type of fire just is so cozy and happy and screams fall to me

6. What tv show are you looking forward to seeing the most this Fall??
Duh...refer to question #1

7. Personal Shopper or Personal Chef?
Shopper. I hate stores, there are so many asshats wandering around in them.

8. What is the first word that comes to mind when you think of "Fall"?
Happy! Because the 90 degree weather is gone and instead I have all my windows open, a nice breeze and the scents of the season!

Phit Grips Review

Were you aware that in 2007 the University of Arizona did a study and found that grocery cart handles carry more germs than a public restroom? Most of us tend to avoid public restrooms like the plague but we touch grocery cart handles constantly. Sure you can carry wet wipes in your purse or hope that the store has remembered to fill those sanitizer tubs (if they even offer them) but what if there was a product that you could easily fit in your purse or reusable shopping bag that slipped right over those nasty handles? Well there is. Phit Grips.

Originally designed for weight lifters to go over the handles of the weights, eliminating the need to wear gloves that become sweaty and gross, they can also be used to cover your shopping cart handles. Phit Grips are an American made product. The rubber is liquefied then injected with air to give it a cushiony feel. You can easily slip the covers right over the cart handle and never touch it. Even better is the fact that the Phit Grip logs is infused with an anti microbial agent which inhibits the growth of bacteria and spread of germs. To activate simply rub your hands together occasionally, when the logo wears off you know it is time to purchase a new Phit Grip.

I have been using mine for about a week or so and am very happy with them. They slip right onto the cart and I no longer have that horrible "yucky" sticky quick give me my anti bacterial hand gel feeling every time I go shopping! I also happen to be one of those people that just seems to have alot of static electricity, so they serve double duty and I don't get shocked every time I touch the cart! They weigh next to nothing so can easily be put in your purse, for myself I keep them with my plethora of reusable shopping bags, this way I don't forget to bring either item with me!

These babies are definitely worth the money, especially if you know someone who is immune suppressed, pregnant, has small children or just doesn't want God knows what kind of germs on their hands!

You can purchase your own set for $9.99 at by clicking order now!

Disclaimer: I was given one set of Phit Grips in order to review them. I received no monetary compensation for this review. All opinions are 100% honest and my own.

Funky Monkey Snack Review

Have you heard of Funky Monkey Snacks yet? I hadn't until recently. I have been trying to find a snack that is good for you and actually tastes good too. I mean don't get me wrong, I like fresh fruit, but sometimes you just don't feel like cutting up a pineapple when you want a little something to munch on, right? Plus, I work long days and often need a little pick me up snack in the afternoon. Let's face it, it's pretty hard to eat and apple or pear, getting your hands all sticky when you are keyboarding and answering the phone!

Well that's were Funky Monkey comes in. They have a freeze dry process that locks in the flavor and vitamins of real slices of fruit. Each piece is packed with flavor and has a nice crunch. Not like some other ones I have purchased and you go to bite into an apple piece and it's soft. Eww!

Nutritionally speaking they are great also. Each ounce contains 3 of the recommended servings of real fruit,  no added sweeteners, sugar, coloring, preservatives or flavoring. Serving size is 1 package and of all the ones I tried I think the highest fat calorie content was 10.

I received a bag of each flavor; Applemon, Bananamon, Carnaval Mix, JiveALime, MangOJ, Pink Pineapple, and Purple Funk. Having tried all of them except the two banana ones, I have to say they live up to the promise of taste and crunch. Simply opening the single serving bag smells like cutting a piece of fruit in half. The taste is phenomenal. My favorite being the Applemon and Pink Pineapple, tart, crunchy and satisfying! These are great snacks for kids and adults alike and I will be purchasing more of my favorites!
(for the record, I hate banana but judging by the speed with which my husband scarfed those down I would have to say that they were A-Okay also!)

Want to get some for yourself? Funky Monkey can be purchased in select locations, to find one near you click HERE or you can purchase online by going HERE.

Disclaimer: I received product in order to do a review. My opinions are my honest opinion of the product and in no way influenced by receiving it for free. Other consumers may have different opinions or tastes.

Randomness & a surprise giveaway

Hola Folks!
I have a slew of reviews I am supposed to be working on but after 2 weeks and 107 hours at work (literally) I finally have a Saturday off. I slept in, thank you all the powers that be and now Mom is feeling well enough that I am going to pick her up and we are going to go to Shaker Woods for a little bit! We weren't able to go last year because she was too sick but we are going to take it easy and just see what we can until she is tired (or I pull rank and say she has had enough). Ill probably spend too much money, so I guess it's a good thing I worked those 107 hours, right?

Earlier this week I found a recipe online and have been dying to make it.
I can cook like a mofo but Betty the Baker I am not. I tried it out last night and let's just say, this shit rocks!
It's supposed to be cupcakes, but since I am lazy (and only have 2 cupcake trays) I made a dozen cupcakes and a small cake.

DIVINE. They are so soft and moist it is ridiculous! I'm pretty sure they aren't even that bad for you....I mean they have to be better than say a double chocolate fudge cake with cream cheese frosting? Right?

BY Renee from Sugar Momma's Bakery

2 Eggs
1 regular sized vanilla cake mix
1 can Orange Soda pop
2 packages Jell-O orange
1 package instant vanilla pudding mix
1 cup milk
2 cups water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
8 ounces Cool Whip topping

  1. Mix cake  mix with orange pop and eggs. Line cupcake pan with cupcake wrappers, pour batter into cups. Bake 10-15 minutes at 350 F
  2. When cake is done, poke holes in the cake with fork sprayed with cooking spray. Mix one package of orange jello in 1 cup hot water until dissolved. Add 1 cup cold water. Pour entire mixture over cake. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  3. Mix vanilla pudding mix and other pack of Jell-O together (dry) Add 1 cup of milk and 1tsp vanilla
  4. Mix well. Blend in thawed cool whip. Use mixture to frost cake (or eat with a spoon!)
  5. Keep refrigerated
These are an awesome summer treat. I think next time I will use lemon instead of orange and see how that comes out!

Okay, last item and I gotta hit the road!
Did you read my review on the Bryton Pick? If not head over there and check it out. Why? Well because Bryton Pick is going to award one of my readers some samples to try! The only thing you need to do to enter is comment on this post. Could be why you want to win, a recipe of your own, whatever! The only rule is that it has to be a real comment, not just "enter me" or "hi", got it? You can comment as many times as you like, respond to someone else's comments, what have you. Sometime tomorrow I will draw a winner.

Have a great day!

Saturday Six

Hooking up with two fab ladies that host the Saturday Six, J at Boobies, Babies & a Blog and Ashlee at The Zombie Housewife. Besides the fact that they seriously rock, I can't pass up anything that combines the word Saturday and pictures of shot glasses.(could be the reason I don't get online til so late on Sundays...)

BWS tips button

Rules are simple, visit one of their sites, grab the button, answer the questions and link up.

  1. Who has it easier-men or women? Feel free to elaborate!
  2. What's the most scandalous thing you've done this week?
  3. Worst pick up line you've ever heard?
  4. Who's your celeb crush?
  5. Do you feel comfortable talking about sex?
  6. What's your all time favorite movie?
Who has it easier-men or women? Don't hate on me, but I really think that in alot of cases men do. Not all, I know some folks have those really equal relationships going. BUT many women feel the need to do everything. Go to school, get a good job, have kids, take care of the house, grocery shop, cook dinner, pay bills and take care of everyone. If they don't they feel as if they are failing or not living up to expectations. Many men go to work, PLAY with the kids, mow the lawn and ask why they don't have clean socks or why there isn't any milk in the fridge. We fought for equal rights, but I think in some cases we may have gotten some extra--does that make sense?
What's the most scandalous thing you've done this week? I don't think I have been very scandalous this week yet (shots don't happen till Saturday NIGHT) hmmm...I let it slip to my boss that when my co worker called off with this really huge elaborate detailed story of someone she knows dying, she really got drunk as a hell and screwed some guy and was still in bed with him when she called off. I didn't mean just slipped, really.
Worst pick up line you've ever heard? "They say eyes are windows to the soul and your eyes are beautiful" which might not have been THAT bad but he was looking at my boobs, not my eyes, when he said it
Who's your celeb crush? Jon Bon Jovi---since the 80's for God's sake! and Trace Adkins, something about that big tall body and that deep voice. Let's just say I wouldn't bitch at either of them for eating crackers in bed :)
Do you feel comfortable talking about sex? I'll talk about sex with anyone except my mother. EEK.
What's your all time favorite movie? I am not a favorite movie type of gal, but in order to not cheat I'll go with Dirty Dancing. I love that last scene

now go hook up!!

Friday! Woot!

BWS tips button

And what fun would Friday be if I didn't hook up with my favorite crazy lady J @ Boobies, Babies & A Blog, for Fawk You Friday! I was in a great mood this morning and was having trouble coming up with stuff, but never fear, the universe is right again and everything is annoying me!

So this week I say Fawk You:
To the sponsor I won a camera case from. It took you 2 months to ship it to me and for some reason you thought it would be cute to throw a Onesie inside it with your name on it? I have been trying  unsuccesfully to get knocked up for more than 4 years, but hey thanks! hmm, maybe I can turn it into dog clothes?

To the Facebook complainer. Just once post something that is not miserable? I know you are not feeling well, but really? Comparing Lyme to Cancer?
To the Facebook moron: Did you really just post this?

A big giant Fawk You to my husbands son and his wife. Your father has tried and tried. He left message upon message that you never returned. He knocked on your door and you didn't answer. He reached out to you. What right do you have to leave nasty posts saying how he has hurt you so bad, you need your dad, why doesn't he want to be in your life. Grow the fuck up. You simply like feeling sorry for yourself. We live 2 streets away from you, you don't answer phone calls, you don't answer the door, you have never visited our house. I visit my parents 9 times out of 10. Because they are my parents and I am a decent human being.
Of course if you are having some type of party and would like gifts from us you manage to contact us. You keep saying you are a grown man so act like one. Stop being so selfish and hurtful. You do the same shit to your sister too. I remember when she was 12 and would call and call and you wouldn't answer.

Now go and link up. I have to get back to work.

Tropical Traditions Coconut Oil Hair Treatment- Review & Giveaway

"Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil for Hair Treatment is specially made for hair application. It has a slightly higher amount of protein than our other coconut oils, due to the presence of coconut solids. This Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil is a truly unrefined coconut oil"

This is the second time I have been lucky enough to work with Tropical Traditions and I am just as impressed this time as I was the first time! My Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil Hair Treatment arrived snugly packaged in bubble wrap and cardboard (you never have worry your product will spill or break open with Tropical Traditions!).

I can't think of any woman who would want to have shinier, healthier hair. Certainly not I, with my insane mop of curls....split ends are always a problem! So I am always looking for THE ONE, you know, the one product I don't mind spending the extra cash on if it will help me out! I am pretty sure I just found it!

Did you know that protein is needed to support scalp health? I didn't. Apparently, if you have a protein deficiency it can result in a dry scalp which means dull dry hair. A study was done in India (where people have been using coconut oil as a hair treatment for thousands of years) comparing mineral oil, sunflower oil and coconut oil. Coconut oil proved to be the only oil that reduced the loss of protein (in scalp & hair) when used as a grooming product.

Suggested Uses:

For dry scalp: Rub into hair and scalp at least 30 minutes before showering, or before bed at night. Wear a shower cap or towel to protect bedding.

As a hair conditioner: Rub into the ends of your hair after washing, while the hair is still wet. Apply as needed, working towards the scalp. It can also be used as a pre-wash hair treatment applying just before showering.

I have used my hair treatment several times and am in love with it.
Coconut oil solidifies under 75 degrees, so I had the brilliant idea of setting mine on the porch window ledge in the 95 degree heat to melt it. I thought it would be easier to apply to my scalp in liquid form. NOT my brightest idea. The jar is a wide mouth jar, not a pour spout, so I had to use a measuring spoon and put a tablespoon at a time on my hair.  While the warm oil did feel heavenly on my scalp, it would have been MUCH easier to leave it semi solid and scoop out a "glob" at a time to rub in. I like to start at my scalp and work my way to the split ends, then bunch it all up in a giant hair clip and read blogs for 30 minutes or so before I wash it out. The Oil hair treatment washes out very easily with warm water and does not leave your hair greasy.

I can honestly say that over the last 3 weeks, I really feel my hair looks shinier and my scalp is definitely less dry! I don't use it everyday, I find (for myself) that once a week is usually good.

Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil for Hair Treatment normally retails for $25 but is currently on sale for $19.95 and can be purchased HERE.

Tropical Traditions is going to give one of my readers their very own jar of Hair Treatment Oil!

Medical Alert System

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Medical Guardian. All opinions are 100% mine.

The Medical Guardian is a Medical Alert System that was established for those seniors that wish to live an independent life at home, but still have access to help if something were to happen to them. Medical Guardian is an affordable solution, with state of the art equipment, 24 hour around the clock monitoring and contract! That's right, you can try it out for a month and if you don't like it, you can return the equipment. At the reasonable price of $29.95 and no contract, that's better than my cell phone plan!

Medical_guardianIf you have an aging parent that loves living in the home that have lived in for years, but it scares you to death that they are alone this is a great compromise. Sure, they say they will call you if something happens, but in my experience things don't happen conveniently near a telephone and seniors especially are at a high risk for falls! The Medical Guardian is a reasonable alternative to assisted living and can provide peace of mind to loved ones! Most of the marketing for the Medical Guardian is geared towards senior citizens, but I don't feel that those are the only people that would benefit from this device. If you have read my blog for any amount of time, you will know that I have a chronically ill mother who has been in intensive care 4 times in the last year. My parents are still married, but as they are both in their 50's my father still has to work full time. I make my mom text me every morning when she wakes up so that I know she is OK. So I personally would feel so much better if she had one of these. She has a hard time with steps and often will stick her cell phone in a sock, so she can hold on while going down them. If she had the Medical Guardian she wouldn't have to do that! I foresee a discussion in the very near future!

Bryton Pick Review

BRYTONPick – FLOSS In Seconds Advantages:
Convenient & faster interdental cleaning
Reusable - up to 30 days, less waste, less environmental impact
Germ resistant - flexible & thin stainless steel edges
Portable – go anywhere credit card size carry-pouch
What a great idea for a product! I know that I am one of those people that checks their teeth after every meal. I mean, you don't want to be at work, talking to a customer and have broccoli stuck between your teeth, right?

The Bryton Picks come with a little plastic pouch that will fit in a wallet credit card slot or even a change purse with ease and are flat enough to not make a huge bulge! Instead of searching for a toothpick,or using a post it not like my co-worker (and man that just grosses me out for some reason), you can just slip this out of your wallet and clean your teeth in seconds. I know you should brush after every meal and floss. Sometimes that just isn't possible, I mean do you carry a toothbrush and toothpaste to say a wedding? No, you don't, but the Bryton Pick will fit in your sexy little clutch!

My personal opinion of it is  pretty positive. I love that it is so convenient. I happen to have very close together teeth and flossing usually makes my gums hurt, the stainless steel is so thin that it fits between my teeth with ease. Sometimes floss will fray or catch on "odd" corners of teeth, you won't have that problem with the pick. The only thing I will say is that the edges are sharp! I sliced my lip the first tip so I would say you definitely need to use a mirror and be careful when you use them.

BRYTONPick is available @: Meijer Stores, A&P, Pathmark, Winn Dixie, C&S, Kinney Drugs, Save Mart,,, Pearson Dental Supply & Others.

I Hate To Cook Book Winners

Happy Sunday peeps! Day didn't start off so great at Casa Carrie. Woke up at about 4 a.m. and realized the AC was not blowing any cold air. EEP! That really got my goat since I just had a new coil installed (furnace will be replaced this fall). Luckily I called my father around noon and since he kicks ass at that kind of stuff it's up and running again. Turns out some condensation was not draining, blah blah blah.

Anywho, the winners of the I Hate to Cook Cookbook are:
