Okay ladies! It's Fawk You Friday! I missed last week due to pure exhaustion and not having two seconds to post for part of the week! But I'm Baaaaaack, lol!

Fawk you to my piece of crap furnace that died as soon as I need to turn on the AC.
Fawk you to the stupid a$$ at the Dr's office that keeps sending me bills. I PAID YOU. I've called 3 times and talked to you and you keep telling me Oh yeah, I'll fix that. The latest bill threatened to send me to collections. Let me repeat. I. PAID. YOU. IN. FULL.

It's hot out.....

So I wanted to stop and say thank you so much to all of you who were so kind and offered your thoughts and prayers for my mother. It really helps to know there are good people out there!

After another 11 day hospital stay and 2 trips to icu she is being sent home tomorrow. We had a scare on Sunday due to the fact that they were unable to wake her for a little while, then through out the day her sugar levels kept dropping to the point that they were unreadable (she is not diabetic)...after being moved back into ICU and a tube inserted down her throat, constantly pumping glucose into her, they leveled her out and did some tests. Turns out her adrenal gland has quit working, but she will be able to medicate that.

She is happy to be going home, I think she needs to stay in longer. There is still bacteria in her blood and she will be on IV antibiotics at home for awhile, which most likely I will give her. Hopefully we will not be repeating this anytime soon, 4 ICU stays since Novemeber is plenty.....

I was so happy, with Mom starting to mend, my back feeling good enough that I can tie my shoes without groaning in pain, only two more installments on the money I borrowed from work to pay the damn IRS and a longish weekend! YES!!!! Life is not too bad!

Then in typical Ohio fashion we go straight from 60 highs and 30-40 at night to Good Lord is this what Hell feels like 88 degrees. HA! That's fine. I will turn on the central air......or not because after running for an hour it was actually WARMER in the house. Fine. I'll get the freon charged. I know contracters from work and one fit me in yesterday. 7 Freaking pounds of Freon that damn thing took!!!! That's okay though...sweet coolness....until I wake up this morning and the thermostat reads 78. At 6 am. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? Now I have to replace my furnace. I mean I knew it was coming eventually. I live in the house my grandparents built so I pretty much know how old everything is, but the damn thing worked fine a week ago when it was 30 degrees at night!

So anyways. Thanks for listening to me whine again. I'm going to go kick my furnace and take a shower

Licks and Giggles Review & Giveaway. Ends 6/5

Licks and Giggles Boutique is a great site I came across for pet items. Yes, I know, I am a bit obsessed with my dogs, but since I haven't been able to have kids my clock started barking instead! I love my pets and I look for quality items that will be good for them. The two that enjoy wearing doggy clothes get to wear doggy clothes (and when I say they enjoy it, I mean if I go to the little basket they actually run up, tails wagging and start sniffing the clothes) and the other two love their toys. I love that they love me, so it's a win win!

What initially sparked my interest in Licks and Giggles? Well, I have a habit of looking at pet sites on the web (hard to believe!) and when I find one I always check out the "About Us" page. That tells me alot about what type of quality I am going to find in the products. Licks and Giggles "about us" page told me that they love their pets, love the joy and friendship and a furry little friend sleeping with you at night. It told me that they select quality merchandise, not just any old junk to pawn off on suckers pet lovers! So I contacted them and was lucky enough to be sent items for a review and giveaway!

My Roxie girl was sent the Pink Polka Dot Diva Tank which couldn't be more perfect for her since she is such a Diva and rules all three of the bigger boys! Since Roxie is such a petite little girl at only 7lbs and only 11 inches long, I often have a hard time finding clothes for her, they end up being all out of proportion. The adorable tank she was sent fit to a T! If you aren't sure what size to buy, simply check out the size charts under every item of clothing! This adorable cotton tank is lightweight enough to breathe easily but the detailed stitching makes it sturdy enough that you know it won't unravel and the pink polka dot bow and pocket are just the right touch of Diva! Seriously, look at the quality stitching in the picture below and the little skull and crossbones!

For the boys I received a plush donut with a squeaker inside. Let me tell ya, my oldest guy reminds me of Linus from Snoopy with the blanket. That's how he is with plush toys, every where he goes he is dragging some poor bedraggled animal with him (seriously, I found a stuffed Frankenstein in my flowers yesterday), so I have plenty of experience with stuffed toys! This Donut is cute as a button, very sturdily made with thick material, no loose seams, hanging strings or "fuzzies". Check out Chester breaking it in below ( Spike may have been stashing Frankenstein at the time)

Monday Monkey Minute~ *snort* edition!

1 - Do you *snort*? I snorted coke recently.........actually it was diet coke. I blame my mother for saying something outlandish right when I was taking a swig.

2 - Our friend, has a nickname and it's Daffy.  What's your nickname? Unless you count the fact that the lady I work with tends to yell out "hey ho, can you blah blah blah" I don't think I have one.......oh wait, the hubster used to call me pookie all the time........

3 - Do you know sign language? I know the alphabet and learned You are my sunshine in third grade.

4 - What's a sample convo from your hood?  I get such a kick out of Daffy's convo's from the hood.

Me: Yes (while rolling eyes)

Customer: ROOF SHINGLES. Ain't yo listen?
ME: Sigh. Hold please. cue intercom: SALES LINE ONE



I have to include one more:

Customer: We got our shingles (blah blah blah me banging head on desk cuz I will never get that 15 minutes back) and just wondered how long the warranty is good for?
Me: What were the shingles?
HER: Duration Lifetime
Me: That's a lifetime warranty
Her: No, I need to know how many years.
Me: Lifetime
Her: (getting Pissed at me now) 30 years, 40 years? How many years.
Me: I'm not sure how else explain LIFETIME ma'am......

5-  Do you sleep with electronic devices - i.e. laptop, Blackberry, iPhone, etc? I panic if my Iphone is not near me at all times. I have a plug at work, a plug in the living room, a plug on the home pc and at night it is nestled snuggly next to my evil alarm clock. (of course in  my defense I do not have a home phone and I do have a sick mother. You're buying that right?)

Where have I been?

Hey all! It's been a rough week and hasn't been getting much better. Many of you might hae read about my mom being very ill with sepsis, she is still in the hospital and we are considering moving her to The Cleveland Clinic tomorrow. We do not feel she is getting the care she needs in the local hospital. As if that hasn't been bad enough, I somehow managed to mess up my back, turns out I have a fracture at L2 (whatever that means, I just know it hurts!). I haven't been able to sit, so since I don't have a laptop I have not been able to sit at my desktop PC  and post. Trust me, I tried. The winners post? It has taken me several hours of doing about a minute of work, walking around the house, doing another minute of work, etc.

I have a couple of great reviews and giveaways coming up, but I don't like to do  anything half assed, so they are going to wait a bit until I am not at the hospital with mom all the time AND able to sit at the computer!

Where I talk about my mother

I'm not sure where to start, where is the beginning of the story? I guess  it's my blog and I can start where ever I want, be as disjointed as I want and if you don't want to read, you really don't have too, this is something I need to talk about right now for me.

My Mom is 55 years old and been through so much. A complete hysterectomy at 28, 2 strokes in her early 30's from blood clots, finally being diagnosed with antiphospholipid syndrome., rheumatoid arthritis, nerve damage and fused disks in her back and a Lupus diagnosis in her early 40's and a fractured hip a year ago.You would think that would be enough burdens for anyone wouldn't you? Especially a woman who never did any drugs, never touched a cigarette and at most has a margarita or glass of wine maybe twice a year.

Just a quick text from my phone. I'm sitting outside the MICU waiting for a port to be put in my mothers neck. I had to call ambulance for the third time since November and this will be her fourth hospitalization. She has has Lupus and has been septic 3 times. It looks like she is again. The Dr just came out and told me she may need to be put on a ventilator. I will be around when I can. Thanks. Carrie

I'm slow! LOL

1.  I am a procrastinator. I always have been. 
2. I can't swim, actually I can but I am petrified of water when I can't see the bottom and start to hyperventilate.
3. My husband is 17 years older than me. It balances well, most days he only acts a couple of years younger
4. I think centipedes are an abomination. NOTHING should have that many legs, it's CREEPY
5. I sleepwalk. Not as much now, but when I was young it used to freak out my mother. When I was about 4 I walked into her closet and peed in her shoe, thinking it was the bathroom. :P
6. I HATE getting up in the morning. If I had my druthers I would stay up til 6am rather than get up at 6. Since I work at 7am that sucks.
7. I would like to have a love affair with Jon Bon Jovi. I have been going to his concerts since Highschool with my BFF. Last time we scored 4th row.
8. I still don't know what I will be when I grow up
9. I prefer winter over summer (weird huh? but you see alot fewer centipedes in winter!)
10. As long as I have Internet, a credit card and a UPS man, I could cheerfully be a hermit. I'm not kidding.

Have you ever peed in the shower/bath/pool?
 Um, yes. What kid hasn't at sometime or another peed in the pool? 

What is your biggest pet peeve?
I have many and most are tied directly to something my husband does. 

What's the story behind your blog title?
It's not really a story. I'm not a creative person when it comes to thinking up titles, screen names, email addresses, etc. Since I figured Carrie's Blog was a bit too mundane and I do tend to Ramble, viola.


What is your definition of success?
To me success isn't about money or fame. If you are happy with how you have lead your life. If you are loved by your family and friends. If you support yourself and your loved ones to the best of your ability. Then I feel you are successful.


If you were famous, what would you want to be famous for?
Wow, this is a tough one. Especially since I really have no desire to be famous. None. If I had to be, I'd like it to be for something good like wiping out cancer or making ALL insurance companies cover infertility treatments.

This is really super duper rotten of me to tell you this..........but hey sometimes I'm just rotten!

I was just getting ready to post a new Good Vibes review and giveaway and the hubster texted me. Seems that I forgot the Survivor Finale is on tonight and while I'm not much of a TV fan, let's just say that if the cable went out you might find me on the roof with rabbit ears (not that kind of rabbit you dirty girls!) trying to get a signal so I could watch! So I have to hurry and shower and you have to wait another day for a new naughty review and giveaway!

Soap Nuts Review & Giveaway Ends 5/27

Laundry Detergent. It's one of the banes of my existence. A) It's expensive and I have a husband who can't seem to figure out that it's concentrated and you don't need to use that much. B) Many of them are bad for the environment and your skin.

So after cruising the internet I discovered BuySoapNuts.com ...I thought "Soap Nuts? What?" and started doing some reading. Turns out that Soap Nuts are not actually nuts at all, they are berries that grow on trees in India and Nepal.

How can a berry be a detergent you ask? Well, the contain large amounts of saponin in there shells, which acts as a natural detergent when you combine it with water. They are gentle enough to use on your delicates but strong enough to get out nasty oders like those mildewed towels the kids left in a pile or those stinky cloth diapers!

When I contacted BuySoapNuts.com and asked them to participate in a review and giveaway on my blog, they were kind enough to agree and sent me right out a 500kg bag of Soap Nuts and a Coconut Coir Fiber Scrub pad.

I got my package in the mail and popped it open. My husband happened to be beside me when I was opening it and I have to be truthful here, we both looked at each other and thought no way. These nuts are ugly and kinda smell weird, although to be truthful, it could have been because they sat on the porch in the sun for a bit before we noticed them.

This weekend I geared myself up and used them on my laundry (no way was hubster gonna try them first, wimp). They are easy to use, you put 4 or 5 in one of the little muslin bags provided and toss in the washer with your clothes. That's it.

I had my doubts and am pleased to say here that I was wrong. My clothes came out clean, no odor, no stains (I hate when my clothes get stains from the darn detergent I put in there to clean them in the first place!) and fairly soft. You do have to remember to remove the muslin bag before you toss the clothing in the dryer and you can keep using the Soap Nuts inside of it for about 4 washes, they turn gray and mushy when you need to replace them. The 500kg bag I received sells for $22 and does 150-200 loads of laundry, which is a pretty good deal. If you prefer a liquid detergent these berries can be boiled with water and boom! Detergent! I have also read that many people with eczema have seen a noticeable improvement upon using Soap Nuts. I hope to see this happen after several washings, since the hubster does suffer with eczema.

I also had my doubts about the scrub pad, which is made with coconut fibers and bound with a non toxic adhesive and again, I was wrong. It seemed very stiff and I was afraid it would scratch my dishes but I gave it shot anyways and it cleaned them like a charm, not even scratching my good pot! This Scrub pad is nice because unlike your normal scrubby it isn't going to get the mildew smell from sitting on your sink or in your drainboard, because it doesn't retain water or nasty food residue!

All in all, I am pleased with my Soap Nuts and looking forward to trying them in different ways. The bag they came in lists ways to use them as All Purpose Cleaners, Steam Cleaning Spot treatment, window and glass cleaners and even in the dishwasher!!

It's not like you have kids or anything.

Do you have any idea how many times I have heard that? "It's not like you have kids or anything"
I don't even know which part of it ticks me off more....the sheer unfeelingness of saying that to someone who has been trying to have kids for four freaking years? Okay, so maybe you don't know that we have been trying and trying and trying, I'll give you a pass if you don't know. Did you perchance stop and think that just because I don't have kids, my life is not all strippers, booze and trips to Jamaica? Was yours before you had kids???

Cuz let me tell ya, I work. Alot. I work from 7am to 5pm Monday thru Friday, half days on Saturdays and sometimes on Saturday nights I will pick up a bartending shift. You know why I work so much? Well, because I have bills. Oh, yeah, and I am still trying to pay for those fertility treatments that insurance does not and is not required (in the state of Ohio) to pay for. What's that? Your kid got braces? It cost you 3 grand? No dental insurance? That stinks. I know, I had to pay for my stepdaughters. Did you know I also spent over 10 grand on one IVF treatment to try and have a kid? And it didn't work. So I spent more money on IUI's. That didn't work. Not that I regret spending everything and then some. I'd do it again. As a matter of a fact if I could find a nice RE that said, sure you can make payments! I'd be there before he hung up the phone.

It's not like you have kids or anything. Right. So that means that I don't have to go grocery shopping, run to Walmart, pay bills, mow the lawn, weed the garden, clean the house, do laundry, run the car in for an oil change or cook. I wish someone had told me this before, cuz I have been wasting a hell of alot of time doing all those things. Especially since anytime there is a sick or elderly person in need of help, I'm expected to do it.....you know, since I don't have kids. Do you have any idea how much extra time it takes to shop for someone else? Or take a handicapped person shopping? Double your normal shopping time, easy.
God forbid I'm tired, have a headache or am just plain in a hurry, cuz you can't just drop off the bags and run. Nope, you do that and you hurt someones feelings and now you're the freaking bad guy! You have to visit too, ya know!
Not that I mind helping people, I really don't. Most of the time it's someone I love and I would do it no matter what and I'm not upset about how long it takes me.
I mind that others think I have all this free time, that I sit around a sip cocktails all weekend so naturally I should take time out of my free wheeling lifestyle.

 I could keep ranting, I really could....you know, like how some folks think I should be thrilled to watch their rotten kids on a Saturday so they can go out and get hammered....but I think I will save that for a post titled "It will be good practice for you"

If you do have kids, I am not trying to say you don't work your ass off, or that it isn't more work with kids. I'm not trying to tick anyone off. I'm just ranting from my side of the coin. K?

The thing that started off my whole ranting, rambling post is that I am considering saying my phone broke and selfishly doing nothing for anyone except myself this weekend. You know, soon as get the grocery shopping and laundry done. I mean it's not like I have kids or anything.
